Colorful World Map Tutorial

Today I created a colorful world map and this is the tutorial.
I started with a map on google, and used an Exacto knife to cut out the map.
I got my specific paint color ready and created a paint pallet.

Next I cut a sponge into a small square big enough to dab paint with.
I started to dab the sponge in my colors and gently press it on the stencil I had created careful not to let any paint go underneath the paper stencil.
Once I had painted the entire thing, I removed the stencil carefully as to not drag it in the paint.
The finished result is a clean world map. The most time consuming part of the whole project is cutting the template. The painting process from start to end took maybe 5 minutes. I made mine on extra thick posterboard so that it would hold up to the paint and would not fold easily if handled.

Free Art Friday

Free Art Friday

For anyone in Atlanta, this is a really cool project artists in Atlanta have created. Artists around the Atlanta area will create small little pieces of free art. The artists then "drop" the art around the city, take a picture, and share on Instagram or twitter for people to find. This is a really awesome community of people who have come together through this free art. I attached a link to the free art page, but just by going to #FAFATL on instgram or twitter can show you much more than the website. Even if you aren't in the Atlanta area. there are these type of communities in other cities as well.  Check it out! #FAF(insert city initials)

Here are some examples of the work and I encourage anyone interested to try and start a free art community in your town, or get in on one that has already been started!
